Thank you for your support!
The Whitefish Duck Derby now in its sixth season, was a great success! The event raised over $61,000 for local nonprofits through the Community Grants Fund. Included are instant grants that will go directly back to nonprofits that participated in the derby sales. The Duck Derby event hosts four races each year: The Kids Great Rubber Duck Dash, the Nonprofit Race, the Lucky Duck Race and the Battle of the Big Ducks. The Nonprofit Race was for the organizations who participated in the Nonprofit Fair. Fifteen nonprofits were represented in the race and the $1000 Grand Prize went to North Valley Music School.
The Whitefish Community Foundation would like to thank the many duck adopters, nonprofits, volunteers, businesses and Board Members that made the 6th Annual Duck Derby another success for our community. The Derby makes every $5 donation count. When pooled together with other donations this event makes a serious impact on the Community Grants funding offered each year to nonprofits by the Foundation. Title Sponsors for the event include Don K Subaru, National Parks Realty, First Interstate Bank, JCCS, CPA, PC’s and Glacier Bank of Whitefish. Whitefish Community Foundation Board of Directors along with Scout Troop #17, the Whitefish High School Honor Society students, Montana Raft and Glacier Guides and the Whitefish Lake Restaurant offered significant help in putting on the event. The event offered wonderful entertainment with the Battle of the Bands performing to win a grant for the charity of their choice.
The Duck races went fast and furious with ducks bobbing along with the ultimate goal of getting to the finish tunnel first! A few break-aways did occur and a few of the live ducks did a little pushing and shoving during the race with one even trying to win but overall the races were very fair and our auditors did an excellent job tracking the winner! Prizes were awarded to the top ten finishers in each race.
