Glacier Institute

Use of Funds: Our goal is to generate financial support for our Discovery School Program to ensure its success and longevity.

Mission Statement: The Glacier Institute was founded in 1983 by passionate scientists wanting to share their love of the Crown of the Continent. The Glacier Institute mission is to serve adults and children as an outdoor education leader with the National Park and National Forest as its classroom.

Project Detail:

Discovery School is a hands-on, field based outdoor education program designed for K-12th grade students. This immersion learning runs from April to early June and starts again in September and ends mid-October. Students study aquatic ecology, wildlife, forestry, orienteering, fire ecology and many other outdoor subjects onsite in the Flathead National Forest and Glacier National Park. Discovery School offers students and teachers a unique learning experience that takes the classroom outside.
