The Whitefish Community Foundation awarded a Major Community Project Grant of $25,000 to the Whitefish Theatre Company’s Act Two Capital Campaign. This is the 12th Major Grant funded through the Community Foundation’s program that started in 2010 and the second time is has been awarded to a Whitefish Theatre Company project. The funding will help the Theatre Company finish raising the $1.25 Million campaign goal and meet the matching challenge it was awarded from the MJ Murdock Charitable Trust.
Whitefish Community Foundation’s Board of Directors presented the Major Grant Award in front of a surprised audience to Executive Director Gayle MacLaren, during a special event at the O’Shaughnessy Center on September 19th. “The Community Foundation recognizes how hard the Board and staff of the Whitefish Theatre Company have worked to raise the funding for the O’Shaughnessy Center’s expansion and the important role of the Center in our community,” said David Dittman, Board President of the Whitefish Community Foundation. “It is an honor to help them finish this campaign,” he said.
Act Two -Raise The Curtain is the second phase of the Theatre Company’s campaign to expand the lobby, replace theater seating, add conference and office space, and create additional space for rehearsals and educational programs. For 15 years, the O’Shaughnessy Center, run by the Whitefish Theatre Company, has been the heart of the city’s community space, providing a multi use facility where individuals, businesses and nonprofits can hold events, musical productions, films and more.
