Summer Art Social Provides Funding for the Community

WCF2014ArtAuction_0032-webThe 2014 Summer Art Social was another tremendous success this year thanks to the many patrons who attended. Over 340 people enjoyed the wonderful food provided by Iron Horse Chef Johnny Alamilla and fine wines provided by Fun Beverage. Eleven artists were painting on location as patrons watched and then sold in a live auction format. Of the 40 lots offered in both the live and the silent auction, all but two works sold and the majority sold for over fair market value. “The crowd was very engaged and enjoyed the fever of the bidding,” said Foundation Director Linda Engh-Grady. “The cooler weather did not hurt the show and in fact helped to bring the patrons in earlier.” Auction sales grossed just over $185,000 for the one night sale earning the Iron Horse Foundation and the Whitefish Community Foundation $104,000.

New this year, seven sponsors stepped up to help underwrite the additional costs associated with the event. Sponsors include Carol and Richard Atkinson, Barbara and Mike Jenson, Jest Gallery, Misty and Jon Scurlock, Virginia Weldon and Francis Austin, Byrdie and Ken Wessels, and Susan and John Witt. A major thank you goes out to auctioneer Mark Vasser for his help in making the 2014 event a major success. The event would not happen without the generous partnership of the Iron Horse Golf Club whose staff, beautiful facility and membership are a tremendous part of the success for this event. Thank you to all who attended and the many volunteers that helped to make the event run smoothly. Proceeds from the event benefit the grant programs for the Whitefish Community Foundation and the Iron Horse Foundation.
