Great Fish Award

Each year, the Board of Directors of the Whitefish Community Foundation select a individual or a nonprofit organization to receive the Great Fish Award. This award is meant to honor and recognize the recipient for their hard work and service to the Whitefish community.

The 2010 recipient of the Great Fish Award is Shepherd’s Hand Free Clinic -- Meg Erickson.

Meg and her husband Dr. Jay Erickson, started the Shepherd’s Hand Free Clinic with the help of many volunteers and donations in 1995. Today, they average 40 number of patients each week. In 2010 the clinic saw 1730 patients.
The patients that come to the Free Clinic are those that fall through the cracks. They don’t have medical insurance and they don’t qualify for Medicare or Medicaid. Through the help of many volunteer doctors, nurses, pharmacists and others, the clinic is able to offer an incredible service to Whitefish area citizens who might otherwise not be able to see medical treatment. Not only do they assist the patients by treating them, they also provide a tremendous service to the quality of life and public health of Whitefish. Thank you Meg and your team for all you do for the health of Whitefish!
